The short version
- For most expats, Gosselin fits: Belgian-owned, FAIM certified, local and international moves, and a smartphone video survey so you can get a quote before you fly in.
- AGS and Putters suit households that want a long FAIM certificate and a domestic move as well; Putters also ships small volumes in a shared container.
- Santa Fe fits employer-paid relocations that bundle the move with visa and settling-in services; recheck its FAIM renewal first.
- No mover publishes prices. Get at least three written quotes built on the same inventory, and check every claimed accreditation yourself in the FIDI directory and KBO.

This guide is for people about to ship a household to Belgium, or out of it, and for those who already live here and need to move between Brussels, Antwerp, Leuven or a smaller town. Most readers are in the same position: a job offer or a posting, a start date that will not move, and a container or a truck that has to arrive before the furniture rental runs out.
International moving in Belgium is a small market dominated by a handful of firms clustered around Brussels, Zaventem and Antwerp. Several list EU institutions, diplomatic households and corporate accounts among their customers, and all of them have English websites. The real differences between them are not price lists, because none of them publishes one. They are the quality certificate they hold, whether they are a Belgian company you can check in the enterprise register, how they measure your volume, and whether they also handle storage, customs and moves within Belgium.
What decides the choice is simple to state. Pick a mover whose accreditation you have checked yourself, ask two or three of them to quote on exactly the same inventory, and read what each quote leaves out. The ranking below follows our published scoring method, applied to what each company shows on its own pages and in official or industry registers on 2 November 2026.
How to choose an international mover in Belgium
Check the accreditation, not the logo
The main quality label in international removals is FIDI-FAIM, run by FIDI, the global federation of international movers. It is an industry scheme, not a government licence, but it is audited. FIDI-FAIM certification follows a 3-year cycle with a full third-party audit every third year (auditor currently EY), plus a yearly internal audit and a yearly financial assessment of all FIDI affiliates. (source, checked 2 November 2026) Certificates carry an expiry year, which is why our table shows it for each firm.
Logos are easy to copy. FIDI publishes a list of companies fraudulently claiming FIDI affiliation; a mover's claim can be checked in the FIDI directory. (source, checked 2 November 2026) Search the company name in the FIDI directory before you sign, and check that the certificate is still valid on the date of your move.
Look for the Belgian Chamber of Movers
Belgium has its own trade body for movers, the Chambre Belge des Déménageurs / Belgische Kamer der Verhuizers (CBD-BKV). The Belgian Chamber of Movers (CBD-BKV) has existed for over 120 years, groups more than 100 moving companies under the 'Déménageur agréé' label working to a quality charter, and is recognised by the FPS Economy for the Belgian moving sector. (source, checked 2 November 2026) Membership tells you that the company works in the Belgian sector under that charter. It also sits in a specific joint committee for wages and working conditions: CBD-BKV represents employers in joint sub-committee 140.05 (removal companies, furniture storage and related activities). (source, checked 2 November 2026) The current CBD-BKV member list is a PDF dated January 2026, and five of the six movers in this guide appear on it.
Confirm the company exists in KBO
Every Belgian company has an enterprise number in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (KBO in Dutch, BCE in French), run by the FPS Economy. Search the name in KBO Public Search and check that the status is active. This matters more than it sounds: Ziegler Relocation (enterprise 0450.469.285) is shown as 'Stopgezet' (ceased) in KBO, so it is not included. (source, checked 2 November 2026) A mover that has ceased trading can still have a website that looks alive. For one firm in this guide, Crown, we could not match the Brussels office to a Belgian legal entity, and we say so in its section.
Understand how the quote is built
No company in this guide publishes a price. Each one quotes after estimating the volume of your goods. There are three ways this happens:
- An in-home survey: a surveyor walks through your home and lists every item. It is the most accurate, but someone has to be there.
- A video survey: you film your rooms with a smartphone, live or recorded, and the mover estimates from that. This works well if you are still abroad.
- A form or phone estimate: quick, but best kept for small volumes.
Whatever the method, the quote should list the volume in cubic metres, what is packed by the crew, insurance cover and its basis, customs clearance, storage days if any, and delivery conditions at the Belgian end (floor, lift, parking permit for the truck). Ask each firm to quote from the same inventory. Without that, comparing totals tells you very little.
Customs for goods coming from outside the EU
If you move from a country outside the EU, your household goods go through Belgian customs. Relief from import duty and VAT exists for people transferring their normal residence, under conditions on how long you lived abroad and how long you used the goods. We could not read the official FPS Finance page when we checked on 2 November 2026: it returned a bot check. Read the conditions on the FPS Finance page on moving to Belgium before you book, and ask your mover which forms it will file for you. Do not rely on a mover’s summary or a blog for this part. Moves from another EU country do not go through customs for household goods.
The providers compared
1. Gosselin Moving
Our pickRanked 1 of 6 rated providers
Best for: Expats who want one Belgian-owned mover for an intercontinental or European move plus storage and customs paperwork.
Gosselin is a Belgian-owned group headquartered in Antwerp since 1930, with its main Brussels-area base in Vilvoorde. It handles international, long-distance and local moves, which means one company can bring your container from overseas and later move you from a temporary flat to a permanent one: International, long-distance and local moves.
Its accreditation is easy to verify. FIDI lists it as Yes - FAIM, certificate expiry 2027, and it appears on the Belgian Chamber of Movers list: Yes (CBD-BKV member list 20/01/2026). The enterprise is active in KBO under the name Gosselin Mobility.
For a newcomer still abroad, the useful part is the quote process: Free quote; remote video survey (G.U.E.S.T.) or guided survey. You can film your home with a phone instead of arranging a surveyor visit in another country. Gosselin also offers Short and long-term storage, which helps when your Belgian lease starts weeks after your goods arrive. Its Belgium page lists customs clearance, packing, car and art transport and insurance, and it publishes transit times by road and by sea on the same page.
Price: quote only (not published)ad. Like every firm here, it quotes per move. One small point: its own Belgium page gives two different office counts for its network, so do not read too much into that figure. Gosselin suits expats who want a single Belgian-owned mover for an intercontinental or European move with storage and customs handled. If you only need a van across town, a local mover will be simpler.

2. AGS Movers Belgium
Ranked 2 of 6 rated providers
Best for: Households moving between Brussels and Africa, the UK, France or North America who want a large network mover.
AGS Movers Belgium is the Belgian branch of a large international moving group with offices in many countries, and its Belgian entity is active in KBO with its base in Kampenhout, near Brussels Airport. It covers International, domestic, office moves, vehicle transport, so a household and a car can travel with the same firm.
Accreditation is strong. FIDI lists Yes - FAIM, certificate expiry 2029, the longest validity among the movers we checked together with Putters and Transworld. On the Belgian Chamber of Movers list it appears under an older company name: Yes (listed as AGS Coussaert Belgium BVBA).
For the quote, AGS offers Free quote; home inspection or virtual visit to estimate volume. A virtual visit means you do not need someone at home for a surveyor. Storage is listed as Secure storage. Its Brussels page also names the Belgian Foreign Office and the European Commission among its clients, which tells you it is used to institutional moves and their paperwork.
Price: quote only (not published)ad. The branch page shows a phone number and email but no opening hours, so expect to fix a call by email first. AGS fits households moving between Brussels and Africa, the UK, France or North America who want a large network at both ends of the move.

3. Santa Fe Relocation (Brussels)
Ranked 3 of 6 rated providers
Best for: Corporate assignees whose employer wants moving, visa and settling-in handled by one supplier.
Santa Fe Relocation has had a Belgian office since the late 1960s. What sets it apart is the scope: International moving, storage, visa/immigration and destination services. In practice that means your employer can buy the move, the residence permit support and the destination services (home search, school search, orientation) from one supplier.
Accreditation needs a second look. FIDI shows Yes - FAIM, certificate expiry 2026. A certificate ending in the current year may well be renewed, but check the FIDI directory again before you sign. It is on the Belgian Chamber of Movers list: Yes (CBD-BKV member list 20/01/2026), and its Belgian company is active in KBO.
The quote process is described only as Free, no-obligation quote; the Belgian pages do not say whether the survey is done at home or by video, so ask. Storage is Short and long-term storage. Price: quote only (not published)ad.
One practical caution: Santa Fe publishes two different Belgian addresses, Kortenberg on its branch page and Kampenhout in the FIDI and KBO records. Use the address in the contract and in KBO for anything legal. Santa Fe suits corporate assignees whose employer already runs relocation through one supplier. A private household paying its own move, with no need for visa help, gets less from the bundle.

4. Putters International
Ranked 4 of 6 rated providers
Best for: Private or diplomatic households wanting an established Brussels-area international mover with a groupage option.
Putters International is one of the older names in Brussels removals, based in Zemst, north of the city, and active in KBO. It covers International (corporate, private, diplomatic, groupage) and moves within Belgium, with corporate, private and diplomatic households as its main customers.
Accreditation: Yes - FAIM, certificate expiry 2029, and Yes (CBD-BKV member list 20/01/2026) on the Belgian Chamber of Movers list.
Its quote process is traditional: Pre-move survey of about one hour; phone survey for small volumes. That is accurate, but it assumes someone can welcome a surveyor at the origin address. If you are already in Belgium and moving out, that is easy. If you are abroad, ask whether a phone survey can work for your volume. Storage is listed as Storage (menu item).
Putters stands out for smaller households. It offers groupage, where your goods are packed in a wooden case and travel inside a shared steel container with other customers’ cases. For a one-bedroom flat, sharing a container usually costs less than paying for a whole one, though the trip takes longer because the container waits until it is full. Price: quote only (not published)ad. Putters suits private or diplomatic households who want an established Brussels-area mover and do not mind an in-person survey. People who want everything done remotely from abroad will find Gosselin or AGS easier.

5. Transworld International
Ranked 5 of 6 rated providers
Best for: Expats in the Brussels/Overijse area who need a local move or storage as well as an international shipment.
Transworld International is an independent mover based in Overijse, south-east of Brussels, active in KBO since the late 1970s. It handles International, local and office moves, fine art shipping, and its website runs in five languages.
Accreditation: Yes - FAIM, certificate expiry 2029, and it is on the Belgian Chamber of Movers list: Yes (CBD-BKV member list 20/01/2026).
Storage is one of its strengths: Short and long-term storage, warehouse in the Brussels region. That is practical for people who arrive before their lease starts, or who keep a few things in Belgium during a posting elsewhere. For quotes it offers a Free moving quote and free relocation quote, but its pages say little about how the volume is measured, so ask whether they come to your home or work from a video.
Transworld also lists moving insurance and relocation services. Price: quote only (not published)ad. Contact is by phone, email or its Overijse office; opening hours are not published. Transworld suits expats in the Brussels or Overijse area who need a local move or storage as well as an international shipment, and who are happy to arrange the survey by phone or email.

6. Crown Relocations (Brussels)
Ranked 6 of 6 rated providers
Best for: Assignees whose employer already uses Crown's global mobility services.
Crown Relocations is a global relocation group with a Brussels office in Sint-Stevens-Woluwe. It covers International door-to-door relocations, storage, pet relocation, home finding, and its Brussels page also lists orientation and language training. It is the only firm in this guide that publishes opening hours for its office, and it gives a phone number and email.
The verification picture is weaker than for the others. FIDI status: not verified (not found in FIDI directory)ad. Belgian Chamber of Movers: Not on CBD-BKV list of 20/01/2026. We also could not match the Brussels office to a Belgian legal entity in KBO. That does not mean the service is poor, but you cannot check the company the way you can check the five firms above, so ask Crown which legal entity will sign your contract and look it up yourself.
Storage is Short or long-term secure storage. The quote is an Indicative quotation on request, made by contacting the office; no online survey is described. Price: quote only (not published)ad. Crown suits assignees whose employer already uses Crown’s global mobility services and has a contract in place. For a private move you organise yourself, the firms higher in this list are easier to verify.

If your employer pays for the move
Many relocations to Brussels are paid by an employer, an EU institution or an international organisation. In that case the employer often has a framework contract with one or two movers, and you may not get to choose. Ask HR three things early: which mover is contracted, what volume or weight allowance you have, and whether storage and destination services are included. If the allowance is in cubic metres, ask for the surveyor’s inventory in writing so you can see how close you are before packing day.
Santa Fe and Crown are built for this kind of corporate account, and AGS lists the Belgian Foreign Office and the European Commission as clients. If your employer lets you choose, use the same checks as a private customer: FIDI directory, KBO, and a written quote from the same inventory.
If you are moving a small household
A studio or one-bedroom flat rarely fills a container. Two options exist with the movers in this guide. Putters offers groupage, a shared container where your goods travel in their own wooden case. AGS lists groupage among its services as well. The trade-off is time: shared containers leave when they are full, so ask for an estimated departure window, not only a transit time.
For a very small volume, a phone or video estimate is usually enough. Putters says it accepts phone surveys for limited volumes; Gosselin and AGS offer remote surveys for any size.
If you are already in Belgium and moving within the country
Four of the movers here also do domestic moves: Gosselin, AGS, Putters and Transworld. That helps if you used one of them for the international move and now need to go from a temporary flat to a long lease, because they already know your inventory.
Moving within Belgium has its own admin. In many communes the moving truck needs a reserved parking space, requested in advance from the commune, so ask your commune about the rule and ask your mover whether it files the request or whether you must. After the move you also need to declare your new address at your new commune, which triggers a police check of your residence. These steps are the same whatever mover you use.
If you are coming from outside the EU
Customs is the part where mistakes cost the most. Household goods arriving from outside the EU need a customs declaration, and the relief from duty and VAT depends on conditions set by law. As explained above, the official FPS Finance page was behind a bot check when we checked, so we do not repeat the conditions here. Read the FPS Finance page on moving to Belgium yourself or ask the customs office.
What your mover can do is prepare and file the paperwork. Gosselin’s Belgium page points customers to the FIDI customs guide for Belgium and says diplomatic shipments use a separate form. Ask any mover you consider for its customs checklist in writing, and keep copies of your proof of residence abroad, your Belgian employment or registration documents and an itemised inventory.
If you need storage
Every mover in this guide offers storage. The useful questions are where the warehouse is, whether goods stay in sealed wooden lift vans or are unpacked onto shelves, how insurance works while goods are in storage, and how much notice is needed to deliver. Transworld’s warehouse is in the Brussels region, and Gosselin offers both short and long-term storage. Storage prices are quoted, not published, so ask for the monthly rate in the same quote as the move.
Step by step: booking an international move to Belgium
- Make a shortlist of two or three movers from this guide. Check each one in the FIDI directory and in KBO Public Search.
- Contact them early. Movers book surveys and containers weeks ahead, and the busy season is the summer school break. Gosselin publishes its own advice on how far ahead to call on its Belgium page.
- Book a survey with each: in your home, by video or by phone for small volumes. Use the same list of items for all of them, and say what stays behind.
- Compare the written quotes line by line: volume, packing, insurance basis and value, customs clearance, storage, delivery floor and access, and what happens if delivery is delayed.
- If you come from outside the EU, read the customs conditions on the FPS Finance page and ask the mover which documents it needs from you.
- Sign with the mover whose quote is clearest, and check that the legal entity on the contract matches the KBO record.
- On packing day, check the inventory before you sign it, and photograph valuable items.
- On delivery day in Belgium, note any damage on the delivery receipt before the crew leaves. Then register your address at your commune.
Our verdict
Gosselin Moving comes out ahead in the table. For most expats, Gosselin is a strong choice: it is Belgian, active in KBO, FAIM certified, on the Belgian Chamber of Movers list, does local and international moves, and lets you get a quote by smartphone video before you arrive. AGS suits households that want a large global network and a certificate valid for longer, with a virtual survey option. Santa Fe is the pick when an employer wants moving, visa support and settling-in services from one supplier, provided its FAIM renewal checks out. Putters and Transworld are solid Brussels-area firms: Putters for small households that can use groupage, Transworld for people who also need storage or a local move. Crown is reasonable if your employer already uses it, but it is the hardest to verify on our checks. Whatever you choose, get the quotes in writing and compare them on the same inventory.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check that a mover is really FIDI-FAIM certified?
Search the company in FIDI's 'Find a FIDI Affiliate' directory; each listing shows the legal name, address and FAIM certificate expiry year. FIDI also publishes a list of companies falsely claiming affiliation. Source.
What does FIDI-FAIM certification involve?
A 3-year cycle with an independent audit every third year (currently by EY), a yearly self-assessment and a yearly financial assessment of the company's accounts. Source.
Is there a Belgian movers' association?
Yes: the Chambre Belge des Déménageurs / Belgische Kamer der Verhuizers (CBD-BKV), recognised by the FPS Economy, which groups over 100 'approved movers' bound by a quality charter and publishes its member list. Source.
Do international movers in Belgium publish prices?
None of the six movers checked publishes a price; all work on a quote, usually after a home or video survey. Source.
Can I get a quote without a home visit?
Some movers offer it: Gosselin offers a smartphone video survey, AGS offers virtual visits, and Putters accepts a phone survey for limited volumes. Source.
How long does shipping to Belgium take?
Gosselin states road transport within Europe typically takes 1 to 5 days and intercontinental sea freight 4 to 12 weeks (provider's own estimate). Source.
